20th ANNIVERSARY DINNER, ISLANDER RESTAURANT - LOS ANGELES AUGUST 18, 1973 Introduction by Bob B.
The share below comes from a member with over 45 years of recovery, is happy for it to be passed on and, I believe, carries a message that I sometimes think we all need to hear.....
Why is it a feel like na is changing too much I. E pamphlets gsr to gd my thoughts and feelings are why do we need to change when it's been working for so many years a feel that these changes are coming from wso and aren't happy I'm actually considering stop putting in to the 7th as know and understand some of our money supports these professional workers were not growing as individuals as when we get a work tool ie cbdm were implicating into our committee meetings a feeling like na is becoming more like a rehab I'm also open to be wrong and would like help on this thanks William
Our area has an annual campout which has been incredibly successful over the years. Sadly, last year for the first time in over 20 years we didn't manage to have a Convention - there were a few reasons for this.
This year we do have a convention committee but they have asked if they could have an auction at the campout (approximately half hour maybe one hour) to raise funds for the convention.
For members who cannot attend a meeting in person, or Newcomers who aren't yet ready for that, we have virtual (voice only) meetings online - NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Some useful service resources on this page from the 2015 Florida Service Symposium http://fssna.org/resources.php
This section of the forum includes the basic guidelines for our National Helpline.
Have a look through the rest of these topics to familiarise yourself with the basics, then training will be arranged.
There are other parts of this website which are only visible to Helpline Volunteers. These include a Noticeboard [now rather superseded by whatsapp]; the 12th Step list; Numbers for Referrals and the Call Log, plus more advanced guidelines and passwords for using services like Skype etc.
I'm an Addict, my name is Steve and I have decades of recovery. I found the rock at the bottom of my life in October of 1992 at 37 years old and after over a quarter of a century of active addiction.
THE GROUP IS THE FINAL AUTHORITY IN THIS MATTER: IT IS FOR EACH GROUP TO
DECIDE WHETHER IT WISHES TO BE COURT CARD FRIENDLY
It is mandatory now for a contact number to be public when advertising an event on this site. This is for the ease of prospective ticket-buyers in finding out more info. If you don't want to publish your own number, buy a 99p sim to use, or sign up for a free temporary number from 'Burner' or similar apps.
Hi I'm trying to go through steps and been advised a sponsor is a good idea but haven't been able to find one as yet. Any ideas of how or where to start? Are there any female volunteers that I can contact as temporary option? Thanks

Hi fellow men and women of our unseen magical and inspirational circles of unspeakable power
I just want to say how blessed and touched I feel to be the recipient of a prison sponsees growth who has given me permission to share some of his progress at - this summer 2014 - UK Convention in Birmingham and also to be a small part in putting together something which happened at the recent Merseyside Convention.
A man named Delroy............has been writing to me for a couple of years now: he signs off, "Doing life but loving life."
The Thornton Heath/Croydon Monday evening meeting does not have a GSR. I've been asked to find out what I can about what a GSR would be required to do, when the area meetings etc... are. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The plan is to bring this to our next group conscience so that we can elect a GSR and get the meeting more plugged in.
Does anyone have any parent's and carer's guidelines and/or what makes a meeting child friendly? I'm sure this used to be on the website on the service section but no longer seems to be there. Looking for some guidance as our area are looking at setting up a parents and carers committee.
Thanks in advance
Hi all, Iam am currently part of the Registration Committee for my local area convention. I have been thinking should we charge non NA members to register/entry to our convention? My own personal feeling is we should not. Through the hard work of addicts selling Pre Registration and the good work of our FE committee our convention has nearly been paid for months prior to the event happening. I have faith that the remaining costs will be met on the day by attending NA members.
Hi All, we're planning a traditions workshop event in the North East Area, we were intent on writing a simple format a tradition at a time and picking some discussion topics on each one. At the conventon I met people who said this already exists and may be part of the working group material for the ne Traditions book. Can anyone point me at a workshop format/material for Tradition 1 please?
Don't want to reinvent the wheel!!
Cheers, Scott G

Remember you MUST disable your Voicemail, & your Call Divert / Call forwarding / Call waiting
If you forget to do this and you are engaged on a call, a new caller won't get diverted to the next volunteer in line, but instead, will get your personal message and won't want to leave a message.
That might be the caller's last chance to find recovery.
Going on holiday? Got an appointment elsewhere?
IF YOU KNOW YOU CANNOT DO YOUR SHIFT, PLEASE GIVE YOUR CO-ORDINATOR WARNING.
Good manners cost nothing.
IF YOU'RE UNWELL, THAT IS ANOTHER MATTER. PLEASE REPLY TO THE 9.30am TEXT WITH SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE NORMAL 'YES'
Also if you're handing in your commitment please give plenty of warning
During your shift on the Helpline, you must be at home, logged on to this online office, ready to access any information you're asked for. This doesn't apply to weekend shifts, when its mainly Using Addicts or Family Members who call, if you can access meeting info on your mobile.
Always answer each call ‘Hello, how can I help?’
This is to protect the caller’s anonymity in the event someone tries to identify the call at a later time using redial. This does occasionally happen.
